Fire & Security Manager

To ensure all operational and technical matters in the fire and security are seen to as timely and efficient as possible. Also to ensure all quotations are dealt with as a matter of priority.

Key tasks and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Departmental
  • To survey, specify/design and quote for fire and security systems as required, in line with BAFF and SSAIB requirements.
  • To quality check quotes produced within the operational department to ensure that they are viable, correctly costed, and compliant with both customer requirements and our third-party accreditation.
  • To ensure that we have negotiated the best possible deal with our suppliers and that our gross margin targets are met.
  • To offer professional advice on fire alarms and security systems.
  • To develop business relationships with new and existing customers, passing any relevant leads to the sales department.
  • To maintain all relevant records and reports, in line with client requirements and third party accreditations
  • To produce necessary handover/commissioning paperwork in line with client requirements and third party accreditations.
  • To prepare and assist with audits from official bodies in compliance with Quality Management Systems including ISO 9001 2015.
  • To supervise and monitor the quality of engineer's work checking job paperwork, carrying out site visits and spot checks, and through collating customer feedback
  • To carry out effective performance management through regular 1-2-1's and appraisals
  • To actively develop our engineers to the highest standards, carrying out skills gap analysis, identifying training opportunities as required.
  • To update Alarm Master CRM system as per process, ensuring accurate notes are captured.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Operations Manager
Working with external partners
  • Foster good communications within the company and externally to the general public, customers, suppliers and other third parties.
  • To engage with suppliers to get the best prices and remain up to date with new equipment.
  • To oversee all electrical subcontractors.
  • To liaise closely with customer before and during all installation and service work.
Continuous professional development

Health, Safety and Housekeeping
  • Comply with company Health and Safety policy.
  • Avoid unsafe acts and follow company Health and Safety procedures and other company working procedures.
  • Report all accidents/incidents no matter how trivial.
  • To ensure good general housekeeping in the office, the store, on customer's premises and company vehicle.
  • To ensure the vehicle provided is maintained in a clean and roadworthy condition. Tire pressures, oil and water to be checked and recorded regularly.
Personal and team responsibilities:
  • The Fire and Security Manager is expected to act as part of the team, working with and liaising with other departments. It is important that he/she is a 'good model' for staff and customers and that he/she projects a professional image at all times.
  • Responsibility for creating an environment of integrity and trust with the team and promoting accountability and consistency
  • Encourages the development of individuals and ensuring employees are aware of their value within the organisation

As a member of the leadership team be responsible for promoting the culture of the organisation to all employees through inclusivity, diversity and empowerment

Comply with sales KPIs and contribute to operational KPIs.

Essential Criteria:

  • Displays a positive attitude.

  • Knowledge and experience of selling our range of our fire and security products and services.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • A full, UK Driver's Licence.

Fire & Security Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and diligent Fire and Security Engineer to join our established team at Realm Fire and Security Ltd as we enter our 15th Anniversary year, and implement some exiting new plans for the future. The Fire & Security Engineer will act as part of the operations team but also liaise with other members of staff throughout the organisation. The successful candidate should present a professional image at all times, consistent with Realm's core values.

Hours: 40 HOUR PER WEEK, MONDAY TO FRIDAY. Some weekend and evening work may be required, as well as taking part in the 'on call' rota.

Responsible to: Deputy Operations Manager

Location: ABERDEEN

Main duties:

These will include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance and servicing of fire, security, and other associated systems; surveying sites and designing new specifications; carrying out remedial works according to work schedules and targets; testing and commissioning of systems; offering professional advice and guidance; building strong relationships with the general public, customers, clients, and suppliers, in order to identify and promote additional sales opportunities as they arise.

Essential Requirements:

  • Electrical qualification
  • Great communicator with customer service skills
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Fire, Security, and Intruder Alarms in conjunction with Door Access Control
  • Knowledge and experience of working with CCTV Systems
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Emergency Lighting
  • Knowledge and experience of Refuge & Disabled Alarm Systems
  • Good problem solving/analytical skills and ability
  • A full, UK Driver's Licence
  • A willingness to participate in a standby/call-out rota which involves working evenings and weekends

Desired Requirements:

  • Time management and planning skills
  • Knowledge and experience of surveying sites for fire and security requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of creating and reviewing design specifications
  • Competent in reading and writing of the English language
  • Knowledge of various fire detection systems and software
  • Knowledge and experience of BS7671:2008+A3:2015 IET Wiring Regulations 17th Edition
  • Knowledge and experience of BS5839:1-2013 Fire Detection and Fire Alarms Code of Practice
  • Knowledge and experience of BS4737-4 Intruder Alarm Systems in buildings
